Word Whirl is a vocabulary game for the Palm Pre. The goal is to create as many words as possible between three and six letter long, given a set of six scrambled letters. Points are based on the number and length of the words you can discover. You’ll have to find at least one six letter word to pass each level. There are over 10,000 word combination and thousands of “levels” in this game – so you’ll almost certainly not exhaust the limits of this game any time soon. You can elect to play levels against the clock, where you’ll need to find as many words possible in a limited time.

The interface is well-designed and easy-to-use. Buttons and icons are clean, large, and finger-friendly. Games are bite-sized and can be fit into short periods of play while waiting in line. At the same time, you can derive hours of enjoyment from Word Whirl simply because of the nature of the gameplay. Each level is unique until you’ve exhausted the lot (which will take a long time), so there’s no danger of seeing familiar combinations.
