Web Browser
The Browser on the Palm Pre is fast and robust. Multiple cards containing different websites can be opened and kept open while working on other apps. You can double-tap on a region on a website, and the Browser will zoom in on that region. Alternatively, you can use two fingers to “pinch” or “spread” a specific region for zooming in and out respectively. You can use javascript-heavy websites such as Google Docs and other web-apps quite easily. Bookmarking is simple and intuitive.

You can add a frequently used webpage to the launcher application so that it shows up just like any other app on the list. The application menu allows you to browse your bookmarks and history. The preferences sub-menu shows controls for pop-up windows, cookies, and javascript. Overall, the Web Browser on the Palm Pre offers a clean, intuitive, and fast browsing experience.

Thanks a lot. Can’t wait to get my hands on a Pre!
Is there a trick to type special characters into the pre’s browser? I can’t seem to be able to type “\” (back slash). Also, would this browser ever support copy and paste from another application?
and how do u delete a bookmark from the browser without deleting all your bookmarks?
Admin: You do this by going to your bookmarks view and swiping across a specific bookmark (swipe left or right, doesn’t matter). As you swipe you’ll see it uncover two buttons “delete” and “cancel.” Tapping “delete” will only delete that specific bookmark. Hope that helps.
I use Panasonic IP cams at home which and internet accessible via viewcamnet.com. In order to view and control the cam you need to be able to load an ActiveX plug-in. It works on the iPhone but not the Pre. Is there a special app needed to run ActiveX components?
How do you edit the web pages that initially came up on the first page after touching the web icon?
Admin: Hi Thomas, those are simply your bookmarks. To add a bookmark, visit the website first and then tap the “Web” menu at the top left – you’ll see a menu item to add a bookmark. Once you’ve added it, you’ll see this new website show up on that initial list when you first launch the browser app. To delete a bookmark, go again to the initial page when you first launch the Browser app, and tap Bookmarks under the “Web” menu. You’ll see a list of your current bookmarks, swipe left or right on a particular bookmark to expose the delete button.
Hope that helps.
