This is a fantastic and well-executed app for the Palm Pre that covers most of what you’ll ever want with the movie-going experience. You can see ratings, reviews, trailers, and even purchase tickets with this application. It automatically discovers your location and displays theaters close to your current location and you can just save your favorite theaters.

It does all of this with an intuitive and easy-to-user interface. Trailers automatically appear in landscape mode and the quality is excellent with no stuttering at all. The video buffering is intelligent even on slow or overloaded WiFi networks. Once you purchase tickets, the event is automagically added to your Pre’s calendar. There’s a lot of attention to detail with this app, and it shows a treasure trove of information on any movie, including cast, run time, photos, and more. If you’re a movie buff, this is the app for you.

The Flixster movie app adds a social-networking component to movie information. You can see user reviews, ratings, and comments from within the app. In most other respects it is pretty much identical to the Fandango application. You can read Rotten Tomatoes user reviews, get details and showtimes for the latest playing movies, as well as buy tickets from within the application.

You can also see full trailers for movies, with the Pre’s landscape mode coming into its own with this feature. Speed is good, with no obvious stuttering or playback buffering with both Wifi and cellular data connections. Like the Fandango app, this connects seamlessly with your calendar so that when you purchase movie tickets the event is added immediately to your calendar. This is a useful app if you like the social aspects with reviews and more interactive stuff compared to the Fandango application.
