DeadMan is a variation of the popular game Hangman. The goal is to guess a word in a limited number of efforts. This game is universally engaging and this Palm Pre app offers three difficulty levels: Easy, Hard, and Impossible. You can play against your Pre or do a Pass-and-Play with another person – there’s no networked option. The app itself is simply huge and takes up an enormous amount of space on the Palm Pre – almost as much as the Survivor app, which at least has a lot of rich media under it. If you have problems installing this, you may have to resort to deleting other apps (especially the bulky ones like Survivor and the weird wallpaper app). 

DeadMan on the Pre comes with some fancy transition effects and fitting graphics, but if it is at the cost of a large memory footprint, the developers might have picked a simpler approach altogether. The gameplay itself and the graphics during the game are quite excellent, and the app comes with some pretty difficult words so it’s definitely difficult to beat the last two levels every time.  In the pass-and-play version, you can pick the number of rounds you want to play beforehand. This app is a perfect candidate for networked play, but so far the developers of Word Ace seem to be the only ones to think along those lines. Overall, this is a well-designed app bringing a classic game to your Palm Pre, but comes at the cost of eating up a lot of your valuable smartphone memory.
