Navigation

The Pre comes preloaded with a sophisticated and very usable GPS navigation application. This is a fully functional application that one rarely finds ready-to-go on a smartphone (often requiring a separate purchase and a download). The Sprint Navigation application does turn-by-turn navigation and text-to-speech, so you can keep your eyes on the road as you use this nifty app. It comes fully loaded with maps, and the GPS is spot on and accurate even deep within downtown, fully surrounded by buildings and other interference that usually let other GPS systems down.

Entering addresses is a breeze, and you can set favorites and homes just like most other GPS navigation systems out there. It does what it’s expected to do. Overall, a very useful and functional application right out-of-the-box with the Palm Pre.

This is a really good app. I was totally shocked on how easy it is to use. And better that it comes with the data plan. So that is also a great plus. Getting anywhere is easy with it.

Totally impressed with Palm and Sprint on this one…

    Way to go

Can not get the application to get street addresses from my contacts that are transferred from Google profile.
Try to click on “dive to” then “Contacts” and check if it works on your end.

It is a fine application but I would like to have the option of changing voices and/or languages. I find it very funny to hear the application trying to “read” street names in spanish!!

The app works well. I use it frequently. It would be nice to have a speedometer function on the screen when you are moving.I find occasional, but not serious, errors in their maps. Things like wrong exit numbers on interstates. The directions are correct, however. Finally, the screen brightness at night is blazing and hard to watch when driving. Perhaps a “nighttime” screen format to reduce the brightness and user selectable or a simple dim function. Despite this I still use and like it a lot.
