App Store for Classic
This is a quick update on developments to Classic, the Palm Pre app that allows you to run older apps that were developed for the legacy Palm OS. There are now tens of thousands of “Classic Certified” apps that run seamlessly under the Classic app on the Pre. The Classic app has also seen some updates that improve performance of these emulated apps. Now, all of these thousands of apps are available in one place: the Classic App Store. The apps are well sorted and categorized, you can explore to your hearts content.

If you haven’t downloaded and used a Classic emulated app before, here’s how to do it: Connect your Palm Pre to your computer with the USB cable and enable the USB Drive mode on your Pre. You’ll need to copy the “PRC” file that you get when you download a legacy app into the “ClassicApps” folder on your Pre. Launch the Classic app on your Palm Pre after disconnecting the USB cable, and you’ll see the new app under the “internal” category of the Palm OS launcher.
