The interface is very slick and matches the Palm Pre’s own design sensibilities. gDial integrates with your existing contacts and allows you to dial any one of them with your Google Voice number. You can send and receive text messages through the GV service from right within the application. You can also configure your dial tone on the Pre with gDial Pro. The feature list includes full voice, text, and voicemail history so you can completely replace your existing phone interface habits with gDial if you wish to. Shaking your Pre will refresh your history information or clear your dialer or new SMS depending on which screen you are on. gDial Pro brings a remarkably useful and far-reaching service to the Pre in an easy-to-use, comprehensive, and slick package.

The Evernote package (desktop, Palm Pre, and cloud) also brings powerful behind the scenes intelligence. For instance, you can take a photo of a business card and Evernote will automatically add the right fields to your address book. It can also convert handwritten text so your notes are instantly searchable. The tool is very powerful if you enjoy capturing everything and organizing information. Others have found it to be a solution looking for a problem. Overall, this is a fantastic application, and a much needed organizer to round out the Palm Pre apps catalog.

Problems with memory-management depend on how many other cards you have open on your Pre at the same time. Even with only two other cards open, the apps start freezing up with a 7Mb powerpoint file and also with a 4Mb PDF. No doubt these issues will be ironed out in future iterations. The PDF view application can definitely double up as an E-book reader app until a 3rd party application comes in with a dedicated one. We hear there are several in the works.

Creating similar or repeated tasks or to-do lists is simple with the ability to copy-paste current tasks. You can set a due date for any task and easily purge completed and deleted tasks with only a couple of taps. “Tasks” is a highly functional task manager and to-do list application for the Palm Pre.

A new memo can be launched simply by tapping the appropriate icon on the card view. You can easily copy-and-paste various items and edit any given memo from the pull-down menu at the top-left of the screen. The elegance and look-and-feel of this application rivals that of any other smartphone application.

Once again, Outlook integration for email and calendar easily allows one to move between personal and work life. The email application pulls information from your contact list automatically and displays a photo against your email correspondent if she is already in your contact list with an associated photo. A little navigation bar at the bottom of the screen (more on this later) offers  additional functionality and information from within the application.

The launcher searches through applications, settings, contacts, and almost all other areas of your Pre by default. If it doesn’t find something, it offers you the option to search via Google or Wikipedia, or plot it on Google Maps. With the highly functional keyboard, this application will significantly reduce the number of taps required to perform a given task. Many tasks can be completed much faster with this launcher application.

You can also view a single calendar and color-code the calendars, so you know which appointment or event maps to your business or personal life. Outlook integration is a huge plus that will allow you to seamlessly move your Pre between your personal and business life.
