gDial Pro brings Google Voice to the Palm Pre. Google Voice is a comprehensive and integrated telephony service that lets you hand-off call management, voice mail archiving and transcription, conference calling, call forwarding and a whole host of other wonderful features to this application. You will need a Google Voice account to use this app, and these are available only by invite at present. Google Voice basically presents you with a new phone number (porting your existing number is a feature yet to hit the service) that routes all your calls through a centralized interface. This allows you to do many magical things including viewing actual transcripts of your voice mails. It also brings visual voicemail to the Pre.
The interface is very slick and matches the Palm Pre’s own design sensibilities. gDial integrates with your existing contacts and allows you to dial any one of them with your Google Voice number. You can send and receive text messages through the GV service from right within the application. You can also configure your dial tone on the Pre with gDial Pro. The feature list includes full voice, text, and voicemail history so you can completely replace your existing phone interface habits with gDial if you wish to.
