The Fliq Bookmarks Palm Pre app allows you to synchronize your browser bookmarks between your Palm Pre and your Mac or PC. This app requires that you first install Missing Sync on your computer and is created by the same developers. Before beginning the sync, you’ll need to enable the bookmarks plugin in Missing Sync on your computer. You’ll then need to connect your Pre to your Mac or PC with the USB cable. Once this is done, you’ll be able to select the bookmarks plugin to pick which bookmarks you want to sync with your Pre. Unfortunately, this whole process does not work wirelessly or through the proximity sync feature – you’ll need to go through the USB cable everytime.
The synchronization process itself is reasonably fast and doesn’t throw up any errors or warnings. However, syncing a large collection of bookmarks can mean that your Pre’s bookmarks lists can get completely swamped. The Palm Pre doesn’t offer the ability to search through your bookmarks list just yet, so you’ll want to be careful about limiting the number to the low to mid tens. Otherwise you’ll end up needing to manually delete a ton of bookmarks from your Pre. A warning before syncing a large collection would have been very useful, perhaps it will be offered in a future update. Overall, this is a pretty useful addition to Missing Sync but the lack of wireless syncing and the Pre’s limited functionality around bookmark management means that this app will be of limited utility for many Palm Pre users.
